Mercedes to display 2 E Class hybrids at 2012 Detroit Auto Show



With a number of hybrids making an appearance, Mercedes cannot be left far behind in the race. The company has decided to showcase two such hybrid cars at the Detroit Auto Show this January.
Mercedes Benz will bring out E Class four door hybrid cars named E400 hybrid and E300 BlueTEC Hybrid. It is revealed that Mercedes Benz E400 will have 3.5 liter V6 engine with 302 horsepower and 273 torque its electric motor will offer 27 hp and 184 lb/ft. The car will have the capacity to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.7 seconds and ability to reach a top speed of 130 miles per hour. It will also have 32.4 mpg capacity.
E300 BlueTEC will be a 2.1 liter 4 cylinder vehicle with 201 hp and 369 lb/ft torque and will be fitted with the same motor as seen in E400. At 67.3 mpg this highly efficient vehicle will also include a stop start system with regenerative brakes and low rolling tyres. E300 can speed from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds. Both cars will have 0.8 kWh lithium ion batteries and while E400 will be sold only in America is not certain as to whether E300 BlueTEC will also follow suit.
