Geneva Auto Show 2012 - Evoque Cabriolet

So all the excitement of the 2012 Geneva Auto Show has been and gone and we are here to give you a low down of what's to come this year and potentially in years to come with some of those crazy concepts.
First of all lets begin with the car with probably the most buzz around it of any car at the show, The Landrover Evoque Convertible Cocept car.
As you can see in these pictures courtesy of Yahoo, I'm sure this would fly off the shelves if Landrover would put pen to paper on a possible release of this model.

Audi A3 & VW Golf MK7 spy shots released

Car Magazine release some interesting spy shots of both the new VW Golf MK 7.
The Golf is the VW groups bread and butter and the success of this car is what the health of thier balance sheet hinges on. Work on the golf started in spring 2007 and will unveil the car formally at the 2012 Paris motor show in September.

And as for Aui, They have put the wheels in motion for release of the new A3 and S3 at the upcoming 2012 Geneva motor show. It appears the Germans are playing it safe in this uncertain climate we're in and keeping the facelift minimal.

the 5 door Volkswagen Up officially revealed

The five-door version of the Volkswagen Up! has been officially revealed ahead of its European launch in March.

Volkswagen says the five-door Up! will be available across Europe by mid-year, and anticipates more than half of all Up! buyers will opt for the new variant.

The five-door Up! gets the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine already confirmed for the three-door range. It comes in two tunes – 44kW/95Nm and 55kW/95Nm – the former using 4.5 litres of fuel per 100km on the European combined cycle, the latter accelerating from 0-100km/h in 13.2 seconds.

While it gains two additional doors, the five-door loses the three-door’s rising rear window line, substituting it for a less stylised flat sill.

The five-door Up!’s boot is one litre smaller than the three-door (251 litres vs 252 litres), but both expand to 951 litres with the rear seats folded forward. Both versions of the Up! are four-seaters, with room for two in the front and two the back.

Depending on the market, the Up! will be available with automatic emergency braking, a portable touchscreen navigation and infotainment system and Bluetooth phone connectivity, among other features.

new Mercedes-Benz B-Class is all about refinement

Mercedes-Benz B200 CDI
Top speed: 131mph; Combined fuel consumption: 64.2mpg; CO2: 115g/km; Price: £23,500

It still looks a bit dull, but is better to drive than before and, at last, it rides rather well.

Mercedes is lifting the new B-Class further up market, with a far classier interior and more room for passengers and luggage. Clever aerodynamics have helped make it pretty frugal, with diesel versions managing 64.2mpg.

Mercedes claims there are more new technology changes in this car than in any other model change in the company's history, and it is certainly much better than the old car, especially the ride. But the fact remains that the competition, such as Ford's C-Max and the new Vauxhall Zafira, offer better value.

First Pictures of the new VW Passat CC

The new Volkswagen CC is available with various refined engines. These include the 1.8- litre 160 PS, the 2.0-litre 210 PS, and the 2.0-litre TDI common rail diesel with either 140 or 170 PS.

These complement VW's masterful build quality that should ensure this fashion statement is more reliable.
The most fuel efficient version averages 60.1mpg. Prices for this desirable machine range from £24,200 to £30,100.

Will Vauxhall's Ampera revolutionise our view of electric cars ?

We are all familiar with the logic; petrol prices are rising, we need to reduce our emissions and electric cars offer the road to environmental salvation. But while they might promise conscience-clear (or at least clearer) motoring, the latest generation of electric cars is off to a slow start.

Car buyers don't seem convinced, though, and while sales of electric cars grew, barely 1,000 EVs (of 1.96m total cars) rolled off showroom forecourts last year.

Enter the ultra-modern-looking Ampera from Vauxhall, the electric car that is spearheading the company's rejuvenation of its tired range.

Unlike its rivals, the Ampera, which hits showrooms in May, combines a lithium-ion battery (which can be recharged from a domestic socket in six hours), a small petrol engine and two separate electric motors. Essentially, it operates purely on the electric motor until it runs out of juice (40 miles or so) when the petrol engine kicks in to recharge the battery to cover up to 310 extra miles. It's a simple idea but unlike the Leaf or Fluence, Ampera drivers can wave goodbye to "range anxiety" – the fear that your car doesn't have sufficient juice to get you home.
